CANTON — An Ogdensburg man was arrested on felony drug and driving charges following a traffic stop in the village of Canton, St. Lawrence County sheriff's deputies said.
Sam W. Hires, 50, was reportedly charged Sept. 23 with second-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell and first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, all felonies. He also was charged with driving while ability impaired by drugs, a misdemeanor.
Hires was also cited for failing to signal 100 feet before turning and driving without a left side-view mirror, both violations, deputies said.
