WADDINGTON -- Paul V. Dalton, 78, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 1, at Rochester Regional Hospital in Potsdam, New York.

Born on October 26, 1948, Paul was the son of the late Howard and Anna (Dishaw) Dalton of Waddington, New York. Raised with strong values of faith, family, and hard work, he carried those principles throughout his life.

Paul graduated from Madrid-Waddington High School and Seaway Valley BOCES in 1967 and went on to attend Canton ATC, graduating in 1969 with a degree in Agricultural Science.

His passion for agriculture led him to purchase a dairy farm in Lisbon, New York, on July 22, 1972. For 38 years, he dedicated himself to dairy farming.

During much of that time, he also worked as a heavy equipment operator for Hanson Aggregates, where he was employed for 28 years.

Even in retirement, Paul remained active and industrious. He operated his electrical business for ten years, continuing the same work ethic that had defined his career.

On September 8, 1973, Paul married Mary Miller Dalton, in Massena, New York, where they were united in marriage by the Rev. Anthony Pease. Together they raised two children, Scott Dalton and Melinda Dalton (Akins).

Paul took great pride in his accomplishments, particularly FFA Empire Farmer, a recognition that reflected his dedication to agriculture and leadership.

A man of deep faith, he was a devoted member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Waddington. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus for more than five decades, having joined in 1968.

Throughout the years, he served as a District Deputy, attained the rank of Fourth Degree Knight, and proudly participated in the Color Guard.

Paul was predeceased by his parents, his beloved wife, and his sister, Mary Dalton Knapp.

He is survived by his children, his cherished grandchildren, Luke and Anna Dalton; and his nieces, Patricia Crishock and Theresa Knapp.

Paul will be remembered for his unwavering work ethic, devotion to family, steadfast faith, and willingness to lend a helping hand whenever it was needed. His legacy lives on in the family he loved, the community he served, and the values he passed on.
