PARISHVILLE -- Richard Frank Bicknell, 93, was born on April 15, 1933, in Parishville, New York, and passed away on November 3, 2026.

A lifelong resident of the area, Richard graduated from Parishville-Hopkinton Central School. His small-town roots remained an important part of who he was throughout his life.

Known for his steady nature, strong work ethic, and wonderful sense of humor, Richard had a way of bringing a smile to those around him.

On August 15, 1953, Richard married his high school sweetheart, Linnie Hotaling, beginning a marriage that spanned more than seven decades.

He proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War. Following his military service, he joined his brother, Robert, in co-owning Bicknell Bros. Inc., where they built a successful business through hard work, dedication, and partnership.

Richard enjoyed spending time on the golf course and was a proud member of the Potsdam Town & Country Club for more than 50 years. He also enjoyed hunting and was a member of the Sylvan Falls Hunting Club.

His commitment to his community was reflected in the many ways he served throughout the years. Richard served as President of the BOCES School Board, was a member of the Parishville-Hopkinton School Board, and served as an Assessor for the Town of Parishville.

He is survived by his wife, Linnie Bicknell; his daughter, Patricia (David) Stone; and his son, Richard Bicknell. He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Amy Kelso, Benjamin Stone, Maila Bicknell, Gema Bicknell, Alec Bicknell, and Cole Bicknell; and his great grandchildren, Julia, Renni, Sloan, and Sutton Kelso; Theo, Hayes, and Noah Stone; and Wrenlee Grace Bicknell. He is also survived by his sister, Carolyn Stacy.

His grandchildren will surely miss one of his special Christmas traditions: receiving their annual assortment of Juicy Fruit, Winterfresh, Spearmint, and Big Red gum. It was a simple but much loved tradition that brought smiles and will forever be a sweet reminder of Grandpa.

Richard was predeceased by his parents, Ralph and Ella (Crump) Bicknell, and his brother, Robert Bicknell.

Visitation will be held on Friday, November 6, 2026, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Garner Funeral Service in Potsdam, followed by a graveside service at Chapel Hill Cemetery in Parishville, with Pastor Lee Sweeney officiating.
