To the Editor:

The Community Lunch Program for Kids (CLPK) is pleased to share that our Fourth Annual Fairy Godmother/Godfather Project was once again a tremendous success!

On Thursday, September 3, 117 Norwood-Norfolk students started the new school year with new socks, sneakers, underwear, and water bottles, thanks to the incredible generosity of our local - and “not so local” - Fairy Godmothers and Godfathers.

We were truly overwhelmed by the response to this year’s project. Of the 117 students, 89 were sponsored by members of our community, while the remaining 28 were sponsored by CLPK. Our Fairy Godparents came from near and far, with people from as far away as Capistrano, California, and Albuquerque, New Mexico, signing up to participate. At this rate, we may have to take this project international next year! (LOL)

In addition to the items provided by our Fairy Godparents, CLPK supplied each student with school supplies, snacks, hygiene items, and a coupon for a Happy Meal from McDonald’s in Massena. A special thank-you to the Napoli Group for making those coupons possible!

None of this would have been possible without the kindness and generosity of our Fairy Godmothers and Godfathers, Class of 2026. Your generosity made a very real difference for 117 local children as they headed back to school.

Our community is truly blessed to have so many caring and generous people who are willing to step up and help “our kids.” Your support reminds us once again of what can happen when a community comes together to make sure every child has what they need to start the school year with confidence.

To our Fairy Godmothers and Fairy Godfathers, Class of 2026: Fly high with those new Fairy Godparent wings! You certainly earned them!
