Fall foliage is reaching the midpoint of seasonal change in much of St. Lawrence County, with brighter colors emerging in Potsdam and Massena.
The latest I LOVE NY Fall Foliage Report, issued Wednesday, shows about 50% change in both Potsdam and at Eisenhower Lock in Massena.
Potsdam is reporting bright reds, oranges, purples and yellows, while foliage around Eisenhower Lock features muted yellows and oranges with touches of red, along with some leaf droppage.
In Wanakena at the Five Ponds Wilderness, about 60% of the foliage has changed, with brilliant reds and deep oranges and yellows reported, along with some leaf droppage.
The report is the third 2026 I LOVE NY Fall Foliage Report for New York state. It is based on reports from more than 100 volunteer field observers and reflects expected color conditions for the coming weekend.
I LOVE NY defines peak foliage as the best overall appearance foliage will have during the season, considering color transition, brilliance and leaf droppage.
In nearby Franklin County, foliage is further along in parts of Franklin County, with near-peak and peak conditions reported in Tupper Lake and at Mount Arab.
About 85% of the foliage has changed in those areas, with dandelion, goldenrod, maple syrup, russet, marmalade, pumpkin, crimson and rhubarb hues reported.
Saranac Lake is at about 65% change and near peak, with a vibrant mix of seasonal colors.
Malone is at about 40% transition, with touches of red and orange.
Across the Adirondacks, near-peak and some peak foliage is expected this weekend, according to I LOVE NY.
