MORRISTOWN — A Morristown man was arrested for drunk driving after crashing a vehicle while trying to force another vehicle off the road Sept. 24, according to state police.

Troopers reportedly arrested 26-year-old Deric J. Krake, Morristown, around 5:30 p.m. following a report of child endangerment and DWI in the town of Morristown.

Krake allegedly threatened the victim and her child while she was driving down the highway on County Route 6 in Hammond.

He shouted profane language and made obscene gestures from his vehicle, and attempted to force the victim off the road, nearly causing a collision, officers said.

Krake also caused damages to the victim’s vehicle.

When law enforcement was attempting to locate Krake, he was found in his vehicle, hiding in a tree line in a field off of CR 6, police said.

When observed by patrols, Krake drove in an easterly direction across the field and struck an earth embankment which caused his vehicle to become airborne and then crash.

Krake also did not have permission to operate the vehicle he was in, which was demolished as a result of the crash.

His blood alcohol content (BAC) was determined to be 0.10%.

Krake was charged with first-offense DWI, second-degree reckless endangerment, endangering the welfare of a child, three counts of fourth-degree criminal mischief, disorderly conduct, and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, officers said.

He was arraigned by the Clifton Town Court and released on his own recognizance.

State police were assisted by the St. Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department.
