OGDENSBURG – Ogdensburg Command Performances will present “Shadows of the ’60s: A Holiday Tribute to Motown” at 7 p.m. Nov. 13 at George Hall Auditorium.

The show blends holiday favorites with Motown’s timeless sound. Tickets are still available.

Holiday and Christmas classics share the stage with tributes to Motown legends including The Temptations, the Four Tops, The Supremes, Smokey Robinson and Stevie Wonder.

Buy tickets on the OCP website at www.ilovetheatre.org or call the box office at 315-393-2625.

Ogdensburg Command Performances Administrator Sally F. Palao sees the festive show as a wonderful way to usher in the north country’s holiday season.

“It’s never too early to start celebrating the season and what better way then by bringing your family to a professional performance featuring one of Motown’s premier tribute productions,” Mrs. Palao said.

Recognized worldwide as one of America’s premier Motown tribute productions, “Shadows of the 60s” honors the label’s best-known super groups. Promoters say dazzling choreography, rich harmonies and stunning costumes recreate Motown’s sound, style and spirit through songs that became the soundtrack for generations.

The visually striking, interactive production recreates the experience of a classic Motown concert circa 1964.

The Shadows of the 60s orchestra, “The Funk Cousins,” supplies the rhythm and soul, evoking the legendary musicians behind the Motown sound.

“Whether listeners close their eyes to take in the music or watch the performances unfold, the show aims to offer a front-row experience of one of music’s most memorable eras,” according to promoters of the event.

The show honors Motown’s beloved groups and artists, from The Temptations’ smooth moves to The Four Tops’ powerful soul. It also features hits made famous by The Supremes, The Marvelettes, Martha Reeves and The Vandellas, Mary Wells, Gladys Knight and others.

Mrs. Palao says the evening ends with a show-stopping grand finale celebrating Motown’s diverse lineup of stars.

“What makes this show so unique is that bringing it all together are top-tier musicians and singers chosen specifically for their ability to embody the original artists,” she said. “When you add in the holiday themed costumes, choreography and music, this really is a concert that the whole family can enjoy.”
