CANTON -- St. Lawrence University Prof. Steven G. Horwitz will present "Is Inequality on the Rise and Are the Poor Getting Poorer?" Saturday, May 19, at 1:30 p.m. in Room 10 of Carnegie Hall.
The event is free and open to the public. Horwitz will address the complaint that income inequality in the U.S. is on the rise and the poor are becoming poorer.
He will offer "a skeptical take on both claims, providing an interpretation of the inequality data that suggests things are not what they appear to be, and offering evidence that poor Americans are not only better off than poor Americans were a generation ago, they are also better off than middle-class Americans were."
