COLTON -- The “Round the Islands” canoe race will be Aug. 3 at 10 a.m. at the big rock boat launch in Higley Flow.
Registration will be at 8:30 a.m. at the picnic area. The entry fee will be $8 per adult for members, $12 for non-members. Youth under age 14 will pay $5.
Boats will be divided by type and the race will be one mile for youth, four miles for adults.
The top three in each class will receive an award.
The C.M. Palmer Memorial Award will go to the veteran paddler over age 60 with the best finish in his or her class. The Chris Murphy Memorial Award is presented to the female paddler exemplifying sportsmanship. The Phyllis Baker young paddler award will go to a youth with a strong finish and positive attitude.
Slalom races for pedal boats, kayaks and canoes will also be offered, with a $2 entry for those not entered in other events.
Hotdogs, soda and cookies will be served and door prizes will be drawn.
