AKWESASNE – The final month of the regular season at Mohawk International Raceway gets underway Friday night as championship battles in all divisions begin to take shape.

Races in Modified, Sportsman, Pro Stock and Bandit, as well as the TUSA Mod Lite series are all on the card.

Coming off three consecutive victories, Billy Dunn currently leads in the 358 Modified division, but Chris Raabe, Carey Terrance and Brian McDonald all remain in striking distance. Jeff Sykes currently rounds out the top five going into Friday night’s events.

In the Sportsman division, Dylan Evoy has won the championship two years in a row by a large margin, but this year he finds himself in a close battle with Corey Wheeler for the title. Wheeler currently holds a 12 point advantage. Last week’s winner Darryl Nutting holds down the third position in points ahead of Brent Kelsey and Mike Arquiette.

Stephane Lebrun holds a 12 point advantage in the battle for the Pro Stock championship in front of both Rock Aubin and PJ Peters.

Jean Marc Larose has a hefty lead in the Bandit division standings while Joel Hargrave has a 25 point advantage over Harley Brown and Mathieu Robinson in the Mod Lite division.

Pit gates and spectator area will open at 4 p.m. Heat race action will get underway at 7:30 p.m.

Pit admission is $25 with DIRTcar license and $30 without. Grandstand admission is $12 with children 12 and under admitted free.

The raceway will be closed the following Friday, Aug. 9, and then back to action on Aug. 16 with a full show of Modifieds, Sportsman, Mod Lites and Bandits.
