POTSDAM — Potsdam Central Board of Education approved medical leaves of absences and an appointment at its most recent meeting.
• The Board approved the appointment of teacher mentor/mentee Jara Chaves, for high school social studies, for new teacher, Jedidiah Mead, effective retroactive to January 1, 2023 and for the remainder of the 2022-2023 school year. Chavez will be paid $250 as mentor and Mead will be paid $125 as mentee as this is a half year appointment.
• An unpaid leave of absence was approved for bus monitor Marlene Garrow from her position beginning Jan. 17, 2023 through February 21, 2023. The superintendent request permission to seek a candidate to fill this position.
• A medical leave of absence was approved for Kayla Peck from her position as cook/baker beginning January 31, 2023 through March 23, 2023. Peck will use her accumulated sick time for the duration of her leave. Superintendent Jerry Griffin will request permission to seek a candidate to fill this position.
The appointments were made on Jan. 31.
