MASSENA - Patricia M. O’Brien, age 97, of Massena, NY, passed away on Sunday, October 11, 2026, at Massena Hospital. A graveside service will be held 1:00pm on Monday, October 19, 2026, in Calvary Cemetery, Massena, NY, and is open to the public for anyone interested in coming. Arrangements are under the care and direction of the Phillips Memorial Home in Massena.
Patricia was born on March 29, 1929, in Ogdensburg, to parents, the late Howard and Marie (Martin) Musot. She was employed as a secretary for Massena School District, where she retired after 33 years of service. On September 11, 1948, she married Paul J. O’Brien at St. Mary’s Church. She also found joy in helping at her husband’s shoe repair store on Main Street, in Massena keeping the window front decor warm and welcoming. Paul predeceased her on April 14, 1994.
Pat is survived by her two loving sons, Duane S. and Janice of Naples, FL. and Colin P. of Massena, NY. Two grandchildren, Adam and wife Kaitlin O’Brien of Sandy Hook, CT. and Tiffany O’Brien of Lake Placid, NY. Great-grandchildren of Adam and Kaitlin are Aoife and Clodagh, and she is also survived by great nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by two sisters, Cynthia Paradis and Elizabeth Sweeney.
Patricia was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church as a devoted Catholic, and a member of the Massena Elks Lodge No. 1702. She loved to spend time in her garden, to cook for family, putting together arts and crafts, and spending time with her grandchildren. She also loved socializing with the community she called home. She was a grand force of independence and loving devotion and will be greatly missed.
