MASSENA - Graveside services for Phyllis W. Thompson and K. Donald Thompson will be held on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, at 2pm, at Pine Grove Cemetery 2 in Massena. Phyllis passed away on November 19, 2021, at age 81, following a brief illness. Donald passed away on May 19, 2026, at age 93.
Donald and Phyllis were married on April 14, 1962 at First United Methodist Church in Massena.
Phyllis and Donald are survived by their three children: Bruce (Kathy) Thompson of Crestview FL, Terri (Benson) Hans of Massena, NY, Alison (Jason/deceased) Demong of Campbell, NY. Seven grandchildren: Katelyn (Zach) Denoncour, Megan Hans, Evan (Taylor) Thompson, Chase (Kim) Thompson, Haylee and fiancé, Caleb), Hollie and Hannah Demong. Four great-grandchildren: Keaton and Wrenley Thompson, Cara and Maeve Denoncour, along with nieces and cousins.
Phyllis was predeceased by her parents, Lawrence and Sara Winters, and a brother, Richard Winters. Donald was predeceased by his parents, Alex and Bernice Thompson, a brother, Roger Thompson, a sister, Shirley Lenney, and an infant brother, Garth.
Dad began work at Alcoa, at age 18, in August 1951, where he worked until enlisting in the Navy from 1952-1956. Following Alcoa, he started employment at Reynolds Metals in 1960, where he worked in the pot rooms, until his retirement in 1995.
Following retirement mom and dad began their snowbird years, enjoying 25 years of snowless fun and many special friendships made along the way. Several very special friends we were blessed to have met on visits to Florida. We will never forget their kindness.
Arrangements are under the care and guidance of the Donaldson Funeral Home, Massena.
