(Kingston, R.I.)- No. 5 SUNY Canton lost to top-seeded University of Massachusetts 8-2 Saturday afternoon in the semifinals of the Eastern Collegiate Women's Hockey League tournament at the Bradford R. Boss Arena in Kingston, R.I.
Freshmen goalie Alyssa Altschuler (Cheshire, Conn.) made a career-high 57 saves for the Roos, who fell to 8-13-1 overall. Altschuler bested her previous career high by five saves.
Freshman Robyn Carroll (Bowmanville, Ontario) scored her third goal of the tournament, after popping in two in Friday night’s 3-2 win over the University at Buffalo, and SUNY Canton's leading scorer Karley Cree (Hogansburg, N.Y.) also scored once.
The Roos will play in the third-place game against the host and No. 2 seed University of Rhode Island Sunday morning at 10:30 a.m. The Rams lost to No. 3 Northeastern in the other semifinal game.
