FORT COVINGTON -- A Massena man was injured and faces charges after rolling his vehicle early Thursday morning while trying to avoid a deer in the road on State Highway 37, according to state police.
At approximately 4:30 a.m., troopers responded to a report of a one-car rollover crash.
A 2014 Ford Fusion operated by 27-year-old Brian D. Laprade of Massena was traveling east on State Highway 37 when a deer entered the roadway in front of him, officers said. Laprade allegedly swerved to avoid striking the deer and exited the north side of the road. His car struck a ditch and flipped over.
Laprade sustained a head injury and burns to his arms. He was transported to Massena Memorial Hospital for treatment.
Laprade was ticketed for third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation and failure to keep right, troopers said.
