MASSENA -- New York State police charged a Massena man with driving drunk Sunday.
Timothy S. Helm, age 55, of Massena, was charged for aggravated driving while intoxicated. The charges stemmed from a Sept. 28 incident when, Troopers responded to Roosevelt Road in the town of Massena for a personal injury accident. Troopers arrived on scene, observed a gray 2005 Chrysler Sebring that struck multiple trees.
Troopers interviewed the driver, who was identified as Helm, who stated he was traveling east on Roosevelt Road, exited the north shoulder of the roadway striking multiple trees. As Troopers were interviewing Helm, he was showing signs of impairment. Helm was sustaining minor injuries, so he was transported to Massena Memorial Hospital. While at Massena, blood was drawn to determine his blood alcohol content.
The blood was sent to the lab, the Troopers received the lab report back indicating Helm to have a .18% BAC during the time of the accident. Helm was located on November 19, 2023, arrested, and transported to SP Massena for processing. He was released on an appearance ticket returnable to the Town of Massena Court for a later date in December.
