NORFOLK - Services for Jean A. Shyne, 82, a resident of 737 County Rt. 38, Norfolk, will be held privately for the family. Burial will be held in the Visitation Cemetery, Norfolk. Mrs. Shyne passed away Thursday, October 1, 2026 at the Canton-Potsdam Hospital.
Jean is survived by three sons, Edward F. and Susan, South Carolina; Walter J. and Peggy, Syracuse; Darrel M., Ohio; two daughters, Melody M. and Terry McDonald, Syracuse and Angie M. and Fred Conger, Norfolk; son-in-law, Mason Dufore, North Carolina and her beloved fourteen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Jean is also survived by her brothers Clifford Arno, Carl Arno, Larry Arno and Michael Arno and a sister, Sharyl Jaycox. She was pre-deceased by her parents Elvon and Adeltha; her husband Walter, a daughter Kindie, just this past June, three brothers, Alvin "Jr.", Allan, and Darrel Arno and a sister, Joyce Arno.
Born in Massena, NY on December 1, 1943 to the late Alvon F. and Adeltha M. Gollinger Arno, Jean attended school and married Walter F. Shyne on April 28, 1962.
Jean was a devoted homemaker and worked alongside her husband Walter at their apple orchard, J & W Orchards in Norfolk. Walter and Jean spent many hours in the orchard and Jean tended to the fruit stand at the orchard while Walter was attending local farmers markets in the surrounding area. Jean also enjoyed gardening, canning and spending time reading and learning.
