POTSDAM -- Clarkson University’s Earl R. and Barbara D. Lewis School of Health Sciences will host an open house for its Paramedic Program on March 6 from 6-8 p.m. at Clarkson Hall, 59 Main St.

Those who attend the open house, will have the opportunity to meet with the program staff and tour Clarkson’s Health Sciences facilities.

The Paramedic Program is starting its second cohort on June 5. This program aims to tackle the significant Emergency Medical Services (EMS) staffing shortages in the North Country and its surrounding rural areas with this intensive nine-month program. This initiative is the result of a collaborative effort with Clarkson University’s School of Health Sciences and St. Lawrence Health.

The Paramedic Program is a full-time educational opportunity with 20 students per cohort, ensuring students can immerse themselves in their studies and gain hands-on experience in simulated emergency scenarios. In the future, participants can also earn college credits, making this program an attractive option for those seeking to further their academic pursuits.

To be eligible for the Paramedic Program, applicants must be a certified Emergency Medical Technician (EMT). Clarkson also offers EMT classes through the Lewis School of Health Sciences. The next EMT course available begins on May 16. For more information, visit clarkson.edu/academics/schools-colleges/health/ems-education-department/ems-courses-and-certification.
