Charles Edward Lanning Sr., 72, Parishville

PARISHVILLE - Charles Edward Lanning, Sr., 72, a resident of Pumpkin Hill Road, passed away Saturday afternoon, March 9, 2024, at Canton-Potsdam Hospital after a short stay.

Charles was born on May 16, 1951, in Potsdam, the son of the late Christopher Sr. and Delilah (Williams) Lanning.

He attended local schools and worked various odd jobs throughout his life.

He loved the outdoors – especially when he was fishing, hunting, or riding his side by side.

He also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, great grandchildren, and his nephew, Cordell Lanning.

Charles is survived by his children, Martha (Robert) Brothers and Jeannie Lanning (Don Anson), all of Pyrites, his stepdaughter, Patty Tyo of Norfolk; his grandchildren, Tyler, Dakota, and Catlin Brothers, Zachary Gardner. Beau Anson, Jayden Scovill; his great grandchildren, Jaxon and Damon Brothers; his sisters, Carol (Jeff) Flanagan, Donna (John) Stiles, Janet (John) Woodard, Delilah Earle, and Connie (Greg) Yaddow; his brother, Christopher Lanning, Jr. (Carol); and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Kathy on May 10, 2017; his son, Charles Edward Lanning, Jr. in 2007; his maternal grandparents whom he lived with, Leon and Eleanor Jandreau, his paternal grandparents, Edward and Rose Martha Lanning; and many aunts and uncles.

Arrangements are under the care and guidance of the Donaldson Funeral Home, Massena, however there will be no services.

In lieu of flowers, those wishing may consider memorial contributions to be made in his memory to be made to the Canton-Potsdam Hospital Cancer Center or the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation.
