Airman First Class Brookie C. Danussi , daughter of Tara and Joe Danussi, has been awarded the Air and Space Achievement Medal with “C” Device for outstanding achievement under combat conditions during her service with the U.S. Air Force.
Danussi was recognized for her accomplishments during the period of Nov. 25, 2025, through May 31, 2026, while serving as a Fire Team Member with the 380th Expeditionary Security Forces Squadron, 380th Expeditionary Air Base Group, 380th Air Expeditionary Wing.
During this period, Danussi supported Operations Spartan Shield and Epic Fury, deploying on short notice as part of a dynamic Unit Type Code. Her efforts helped solidify the group's first squadron-all tasking in five years.
While deployed, Danussi played an important role in a rapid two-day relief-in-place operation that resulted in the redeployment of 122 Airmen to five wings, helping address a command-wide manpower shortage.
She was also responsible for security operations at a vehicle search area involving approximately $4 million in next-generation systems. During her assignment, she vetted 3,100 vehicles and 6,250 personnel, seized three contraband items and helped maintain security for assets valued at approximately $10 billion.
The award citation also recognized Danussi's service while working under dangerous conditions during continuous enemy attacks. She held a critical machine-gun position supporting the region's sole Patriot Battery, helping maintain the battery's operational status during a period in which it was involved in the interception of 100 ballistic missiles.
Danussi further distinguished herself through her steadfast efforts during 40 days of combat base recovery operations, helping enable the reception of approximately 4,000 forces for sustained operations.
The Air and Space Achievement Medal recognizes Danussi's exceptional performance and dedication under demanding operational conditions. Her accomplishments, according to the official award citation, reflect credit upon herself and the United States Air Force.
