In one investigation, a Canton man is jailed without bail after deputies say he was found with hallucinogens as a result of an undercover operation.

Steven F. White, 65, is charged with two counts of second-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. Deputies say the charge stems from “a class A2 felony which occurred on October 27, 2020.”

Deputies say White was receiving assorted drugs from other countries at his home and place of employment.

The sheriff’s office says while searching his home with a warrant, investigators allegedly found 2,100 grams of dimethyltryptamine (DMT), about 200 ecstasy pills and about 50 grams of magic mushrooms.

White was arraigned in Morristown Town Court by Justice James Phillips and remanded to the St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility without bail, pending further court action, police said.

A second, separate investigation led to federal and state methamphetamine charges against two Hermon residents.

Conant is charged with violations of Title 21 United States Code Section 841, possession with the intent to distribute controlled substances, the sheriff’s office said. She allegedly possessed controlled substances with the intent to distribute them.

Tripp is charged with state-level felonies: attempted second-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and third-degree unlawful manufacturing methamphetamine.

While searching their home with a warrant, investigators say they discovered 470 grams of methamphetamine, along with components and lab equipment for manufacturing methamphetamine.

Conant was held at the St. Lawrence County Correctional facility until this morning, pending arraignment in front of a federal magistrate in Plattsburgh.
