POTSDAM — Cinema 10 screens Minari, a 2020 film from the US, directed by Lee Isaac Chung, on Monday, Nov. 29 at 7:15 p.m. at the Roxy in Potsdam.

Loosely based on the life of acclaimed writer and director Lee Isaac Chung (Munyurangabo), Minari tells the story of Korean immigrant Jacob Li (Steven Yeun, The Walking Dead), who moves his family from California to Arkansas where Jacob hopes to grow Korean produce for Dallas food vendors. Like the minari they eventually plant, the Yi family proves to be resilient against the various pressures that come from farming in a new climate, settling into a new community as visible outsiders, and the multiple pressures faced by all families attempting to carve out a better life for their children.

"In creating a filmic love letter to his own family, Chung has crafted one for us all" (Moira MacDonald, Seattle Times). Yuh-Jung Youn, who plays grandmother Soonja, won the 2021 Oscar for Best Supporting Actress. Minari is 115 minutes and rated PG-13 for thematic elements and a rude gesture.

Tickets are $5.50 general/$45 season or $4.50 student/senior/$35 season (season tickets are sharable).

Masks are required at Cinema 10 screenings.
