Women of Vision North Country donating school supplies in Gouverneur

GOUVERNEUR -- Women of Vision North Country, a community service group that aims to improve the lives of people in need throughout the Northern New York region, will donate school supplies to elementary students in the Gouverneur Central School District on Friday, Oct. 14.

“To get the most out of their education, every student needs the right classroom supplies,” said founding member Christine Palumbo.

“The goal of this project is to provide children with the tools for success and to help support our hardworking teachers, who as many know often times spend significant amounts of money on supplies for their students.”

School supplies being distributed Friday are provided by a partnership between World Vision International and the supply company Yoobi.

For every Yoobi item purchased at stores like Target, the company donates an item to a classroom in need, making these types of distributions possible.

Based in Watertown, Women of Vision North Country was established earlier this year by Palumbo ,who recently moved to the region from Connecticut.

There, she was a founding member of Women of Vision Fairfield County, which is a chapter of World Vision International, one of the largest humanitarian organizations in the world, serving children, families and their communities in over 100 countries.
