The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory for St. Lawrence County from 3 p.m. today until 3 a.m. Wednesday as winds of 25 to 35 mph are expected along with gusts up to 55 mph.
The winds will be strong and possibly damaging, capable of knocking down trees, limbs and power lines, NWS says.
Be prepared for power outages, the service says.
Winds will likely reach peak intensity during evening hours.
A wind advisory means winds are strong enough to knock down trees and power lines and makes driving more difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.
The high for today will be near 34 with an 80 percent chance of snow and sleet, NWS says.
Overnight will see a mix of rain, snow and sleet with lows around 32. The overall accumulation over the next 24 will be around one inch, the service says.
Wednesday will warm a bit, reaching 42 degrees, with a chance of rain and snow before 7 a.m.

A chance of rain and snow before 7am. Partly sunny, with a high near 42. Breezy, with a southwest wind 10 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 38 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. Little or no snow accumulation expected.

Rain likely, mainly after 5am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 35. South wind 10 to 14 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.
Thursday
Rain. High near 47. Southwest wind 7 to 14 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
