I read an interesting article in the Watertown Daily Times about the Town and Village disagreeing over a $20 million apartment building project. Apparently, the Village Board doesn’t want to extend water and sewer outside the Village of Potsdam to a proposed developer. I think it is really unfair that the Town wants the Village to give up our services. I appreciate the fact that the Village is looking out for the best interests of local property owners and businesses that have been here for years. Who is the “developer” anyway, probably will want big tax breaks to do something “good” for the community net. The other question that’s bothered me about this water and sewer extensions is that Supervisor Regan and Steve Warr both own properties on Route 56. Are they trying to get themselves a sweet deal to make their properties worth more at the expense of the Village taxpayer? Just asking.
