MASSENA -- Village police say two car crashes over the weekend led to charges, meanwhile a third person was charged stemming from a hit-and-run earlier in the month.

Gary MacDonald, 74, of 124 Skinnerville Road, Winthrop was charged with following too close at 11:28 a.m. in South Main Street.

Police said the charge stems from a "three-car minor personal injury accident."

Chad M. Alexander, 41, of 114 West Hatfield St. was charged with driving while intoxicated, leaving the scene of a property damage accident, refusing a breath test and no trailer plates, police said.

Police said they collared him after probing a complaint that Alexander had caused extensive damage to a drive-through order structure with his boat and trailer.

He was charged at 8:27 p.m. Sunday at his residence, police said.

Michael L. Brown, 35, of 351 East Orvis St. was charged stemming from an Aug. 2 collision on Cook Street, police said.

He was charged at 9 p.m. Friday with reckless driving, leaving the scene, second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, following too close, unsafe passing, unlicensed operation, failure to keep right and speed not reasonable, police said.

He is currently being held at the Franklin County Jail, Malone, on an unrelated warrant, police said.
