POTSDAM — A free, nonpartisan community event celebrating early voting is planned for Saturday, Oct. 24, from 8 to 11 a.m. around the gazebo in Ives Park.

“VOTE EARLY!” A Celebration of Our Right to Vote will coincide with the first day of in-person early voting for the 2026 midterm election. The event’s theme is “Voting Is Our Superpower!”

St. Lawrence County’s early voting locations for the midterms will be in Potsdam and Ogdensburg, with polls opening at 9 a.m. Oct. 24.

The event is sponsored by Indivisible St. Lawrence County, North Country Neighbors for Civic Engagement and the St. Lawrence County League of Women Voters.

The organizations said they believe everyone who is registered to vote should be able to vote, all votes should be counted and candidates who are elected should take office. They said voting is how individual voices are heard.

Everyone is welcome to attend the celebration. Special guests will include Wonder Woman, the living Statue of Liberty and Ben Franklin. Children and the young at heart are encouraged to wear costumes, and photo opportunities and activities for children will be available.

As a peaceful, nonpartisan event, participants are encouraged to bring signs such as “I Voted Early,” “Vote Early” and “Voting Is Our Superpower.” Organizers noted that signs should not be taken to polling locations on Oct. 24.

More information about early voting locations, dates and times is available at vote.stlawco.gov.
