MADRID —Antique tractor pulls and parades, horse pulls and corn harvesting were among the attractions at St. Lawrence Power and Equipment Museum’s Fall Exhibition Sept. 19-20 at St. Lawrence Power and Equipment Museum’s Fall Exhibition.

History came alive with blacksmith and saw mill demonstrations.  Displays showed life in the 1800s in the North Country. Attendees toured a log cabin, one-room schoolhouse, general store, church and printshop.

Dozens of antique tractors were entered in competitions to see which ones could pull the most weight, ranging from 2,500 pound stock to 11,500 pound stock, and up to 5,500 pound stock for enhanced antique tractors. The contest had 26 tractors enter with 21 drivers.

Dancers kicked up their heels to live music from Livin’ Country, and women competed in  the annual skillet toss.

The Declaration of Independence was read on the steps of the schoolhouse, in celebration of the country’s 250th birthday.
