Track staff presents on Nationals at USTFCCCA meetings

St. Lawrence University's track and field coaching staff made a presentation on the 2015 NCAA Division III Outdoor National Championship meet at the US Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association national convention in Arizona on Wednesday.

Saint Director of Cross Country and Track and Field Mike Howard, head men's cross country and track coach John Newman, head women's track and field coach Kate Curran and graduate assistant coaches Chase Thomson, Jake Fredericks and Andrew Diehl are at the Arizona convention.

The presentation included a video and a Power Point show depicting the campus and facilities. The Saints will host the NCAA Championship for the second time in program history May 21-23 at the Merrick-Pinkard Track and Field Complex. The last time SLU hosted the nationals, a total of ten NCAA Division III meet records were established.

Preparations for the meet have been on-going since St. Lawrence was selected as the championship site and Howard emphasized the importance of volunteers both in the previous meet and the upcoming one.

"One of the reasons we had so much success and positive feedback in 2003 was the outstanding support we received from our volunteers. We are just starting to line up our volunteer staff for the meet this May, but we are very confident we will get the same energetic group which was so much help the last time the championships were in Canton."
