Teenager jailed on $5,000 bail for allegedly selling pot to peers

MASSENA -- A 16-year-old was jailed on $5,000 bail after allegedly selling marijuana to two of his peers at the St. Lawrence Centre Mall on Friday.

Jaime S. Montoya of Massena is charged with two counts each of second-degree criminal sale of marijuana, felony, and endangering the welfare of a child, misdemeanor, police said.

Montoya was arraigned in Massena Town court and remanded to the county lockup with orders to re-appear May 6 at 1 p.m., troopers said.

Along with state police, the investigation into the alleged sale involved United States Department of Homeland Security Investigations Border Enforcement Security Task Force (BEST), the St. Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office and United States Border Patrol, troopers said.
