CANTON -- Traditional Arts in Upstate New York, 53 Main St., will present a special exhibition of decorative and functional ironwork by local blacksmith and featured TAUNY Folkstore artist, James Gonzalez.
The exhibition, Featured Folkstore Artist: Blacksmith James Gonzalez, will open to the public on Saturday, Nov. 5 and run through Saturday, Nov. 26 with a closing reception and artist demonstration. The artist’s works on view at The TAUNY Center include a variety of larger iron works that demonstrate the artist’s highly imaginative design and skilled craftsmanship.
Visitors to The TAUNY Center are invited to view the exhibition and all artworks on view will also be for sale.
Gonzalez moved to the North Country in 2013 with his young family and established a studio at his rural home in Potsdam. Gonzalez also works out of his metal shop, Farmhouse Forge, which is located on the site of a former dairy farm.
Gonzalez studied sculpture at Mass College of Art and has been in business since 2001 creating everything from artworks to functional, decorative works including gates, furniture, racks and lighting.
