CANTON --Traditional music jams return to the TAUNY Center, 53 Main St., the third Friday of September, October and November from 7 to 8:30 p.m. starting Sept. 19.
All levels of musicians, singers, and step dancers are encouraged to join in playing old time fiddle tunes.
Toe-tapping listeners are also welcome, although they may be handed a pair of spoons or a washboard before the evening is over.
To help all players feel welcome, tunes are played at a variety of speeds throughout the evening.
Players will be invited to choose tunes from the set list round-robin style and begin the tune at their speed.
Sheet music, lyrics, and chords will be provided for those who would like to read along.
Music stands are not provided, so players should bring their own.
Jams are hosted by fiddler Gretchen Koehler and singer/guitarist Barb Heller, host of NCPR’s String Fever.
