POTSDAM -- The Potsdam Public Museum has been awarded a $30,000 grant from the New York State Council on the Arts (NYSCA) to support the acquisition of new display cases and equipment, and provide training and educational enrichment opportunities for staff.
The funding will also be used to fund new programming at the museum this year, a press release from the museum said.
Potsdam Public Museum is also partnering with artist Sara Lynch, who was awarded a $10,000 “Support For Artists” grant through NYSCA, to offer hybrid science and arts programming through the Potsdam Public Museum this summer and autumn for her project, “Exploring Fall Island.”
Full details on Lynch’s award can be found on her website: https://tinyurl.com/3e5huvp7.
Exploring Fall Island will kick off on Tuesday, May 13 at 4 p.m., on Fall Island, with a plant and tree walk around the park led by Dr. Glenn Johnson, followed by art-making inspired by the plants found.

NYSCA has awarded over $80 million since Spring 2023 to over 1,500 artists and organizations across the state, the press release said.
“On behalf of Council and staff, congratulations to the Potsdam Public Museum, and thank you for your perseverance, your creativity and your tireless service to New York State,” said NYSCA Chair Katherine Nicholls.
