'Tastes of Autumn' returns to Violi's restaurant Oct. 20

MASSENA -- The “Tastes of Autumn” will return Sunday, Oct. 20 at Violi’s restaurant.

Seating is available between 11:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m., and meals are $40 per person. A cash bar will also be available.

Bill Orlando will return as the “Tastes” chef, with John Vankennan and Kyle Mayette to serve as chef and kitchen expediter. Rick Fregoe will also appear as a chef this year.

Orlando will prepare a tender filet of Mahi-Mahi, topped with a sweet potato crust, served on a sweet potato risotto cake over a red roasted pepper coulis.

VanKennen will prepare beef tenderloin from Kilcoyne Farms with a sweet Potato turnip hash, smoked bacon, and cabernet reduction. VanKennen will also offer a vegetarian dish of sweet potato gnocchi served with arrowhead spinach and brown butter.

Fregoe will prepare a smoky bacon roast chicken served with a warm artichoke and a tomato Panzanella salad lightly dressed with a lemony vinaigrette.

Soup, salad, bread and desserts from the Italian American Civic Association, BOCES Culinary Arts program, First Crush, SUNY Canton, Karen LeCuyer, A Touch of Icing and SUNY Potsdam will also be served.

Members of the Massena Rotary Club will serve as guest wait staff.

The proceeds will benefit Hospice and Palliative Care of St. Lawrence Valley.
