To the Editor:

At 93 years old, I have spent most of my life working, raising a family, standing up for working people, and trying to make the North Country a better place. I spent nearly 50 years at Alcoa and was fortunate to serve in leadership roles in the labor movement. I have always believed that good jobs are the foundation of strong families and strong communities.

I am writing today to support Patrick Brady for St. Lawrence County Legislature.

I have known Pat for many years, both personally and through our public roles. He lives in the Town of Potsdam, where he serves as a Town Councilman and previously served as Town Supervisor. I also knew Pat's father-in-law, Jim McFaddin, very well. Jim worked at Alcoa, was a union leader, and also served as a County Legislator. Our families have shared a lot of history in this community.

I have watched Pat's career in education and public service, and I believe he brings something important to County government: experience, common sense, and a genuine commitment to people.

Pat understands that economic development is about more than attracting businesses. It is about creating good jobs that allow people to raise their families, buy homes, educate their children, and remain here in the North Country. At the same time, we cannot forget people who are struggling and need help with basic services, childcare, eldercare, healthcare, and other supports that make a community work.

Pat has spent his life serving others as an educator, superintendent, town official, and community volunteer. I believe he will bring that same commitment to the County Legislature.

I don't make endorsements lightly. After a lifetime in the labor movement and public service, I know the importance of choosing people who will listen, work hard, and remember who they represent.

I am proud to support Pat Brady for the St. Lawrence County Legislature. I hope you will join me in supporting him.
