POTSDAM -- The Winter Youth Rock Climbing Program will return to SUNY Potsdam's Maxcy Hall this January, with the first three-week session beginning on Wednesday, Jan. 2.
Each session is two weeks long, with two classes per week, lasting two hours each. All classes are from 6 to 8 p.m.
Children aged 8 to 12 will learn about climbing technique, use of equipment, knots, adventure games and climbing safety in two sessions, Session I on Jan. 2, 4, 9 and 11, and Session II Jan. 14, 16, 21 and 23.
Two sessions will also be offered for youth aged 13 to 17. They will also learn belay certification. Session I will take place on Jan. 3, 7, 8 and 10, and Session II Jan. 15, 17, 22 and 24
Each session costs $75 per child.
The indoor climbing program is designed to teach the importance of communication, trust and patience through climbing, while focusing on building skills and community, in a fun and supportive environment.
