POTSDAM -- SUNY Potsdam's Crane School of Music will kick off the opening of the academic year in song, with the annual Faculty Gala concert.
The performance will kick off the year's bicentennial celebrations at Crane, on Tuesday, Sept. 8 at 7:30 p.m. in the Helen M. Hosmer Concert Hall.
The performance will highlight members of Crane's illustrious faculty of scholars and artist teachers. The list of faculty and ensembles scheduled to perform includes: baritone Jonathan Stinson; cellist Mathias Wexler; clarinetist Julianne Kirk-Doyle; flutists Kenneth Andrews and Jill Rubio; harpist Jessica Suchy-Pilalis; pianists François Germain, Kirk Severtson, Michael Sitton and Rosemarie Suniga; soprani Colleen Skull and guest artist Samantha Stinson; tenors Donald George and Lonel Woods; violinist John Lindsay, and The Potsdam Brass Quintet.
The performance includes works by Debussy, Rossini, Verdi, Wagner, Korngold, Lehár, Tull, Bacewicz, Corigliano and Crane School of Music Professor Emeritus Arthur Frackenpohl. Dean Sitton will also offer special opening remarks.
The event is free, and the public is invited.
