POTSDAM, N.Y.—The SUNY Potsdam athletic department and the alumni relations and residence life offices will host the ninth annual Bear Pride Night as part of the women’s and men’s basketball doubleheader against Fredonia Friday, Feb. 3. The women’s game tips off at 6 p.m. and the men at 8 p.m.

Attending fans will be eligible to win prizes throughout the night and participate in the “Sears Shootout” sponsored by the Potsdam Sears. Selected shootout fans will shoot baskets at halftime of the men’s game for a chance to win a 40-inch flat screen television.

Fans also will have the opportunity to compete in the Subway sub-eating competition and can purchase raffle tickets for two chances to win $500.

“Subway and Sears have stepped up to provide the signature event for a night that will generate a lot of excitement,” Potsdam assistant athletic director Bill Mitchell said. “This has become one of the premiere winter sports evenings in the North Country.”

As in past years, admission is free for all alumni and their families by visiting the alumni “Will Call” booth located near the Maxcy Hall ticket window. Area high school students who wear their school colors will also receive free admission.

For more information on Bear Pride Night, contact Bill Mitchell at 315-267-2307, or mitchewj@potsdam.edu.

Both basketball games on Bear Pride Night will be broadcast live on Time Warner Cable Sports, channel 9 in the North Country or channel 813 in high definition across Upstate New York. Upstate New York Road Runner subscribers can also view a live webcast online at www.twcs.tv/sportstream.
