BENNINGTON, Vt. -- Senior Justin Richardson (Pavilion, N.Y.) won the Mountaineer Invitational at Southern Vermont College for the second straight year helping SUNY Canton win the event for the second straight year as well.
Richardson crossed the line in first place with a time of 30:21 which was 13 seconds faster than his winning time in last year’s race.
It was the senior’s third career individual win including the 2011 Mountaineer Invitational and the 2010 Sunrise Conference championship.
The Roos won with 39 points to best second-place Paul Smith’s College who finished with 64 points.
Junior Jon Flint (Queensbury, N.Y.) turned in a sixth-place finish with a time of 31:51.
Freshman Zach Doyle (Oneonta, N.Y.) was right behind Flint in seventh place in a time of 32:36. Freshman Meraf Tenaw (New York, N.Y.) was 12th (33:56) and his twin brother Mekedem Tenaw (New York, N.Y.) was 13th (33:59).
The Roos next run at the Cazenovia College Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 29.
