Yesterday’s summer-like temperatures blew away the previous records throughout the Northeast, including in St. Lawrence County.
The high temperature recorded Sunday at Massena International Airport was 78 degrees, 12 degrees higher than the previous record of 66 degrees set in 1966, according to Weather Underground, an internet-based weather reporting and forecasting service.
The average high temperature for March 18 is 36 degrees, Weather Underground says. The lowest temperature recorded on that date was -10 degrees in 1993.
Records could again fall today, as the National Weather Service is predicting a high temperature of 68 degrees in Massena and 74 in Potsdam, The previous record was 61 degrees in Massena in 1961.
