WADDINGTON – The Waddington Summer Concert Series begins June 16, and a full roster of regional and national acts are scheduled to perform from 6:30-8:30 p.m. on various Friday nights during the summer.

All of the performances are free.

The opening concert June 16, held at the end of Main Street, will feature the classic country music stylings of Steelin Country.

This country music band has released its first CD, titled “Songs Mama Loved.”

Musicians on the CD include Michelle Bresett on vocals and rhythm guitar, Kirk Robinson on pedal steel guitar, Terry Robinson on electric guitar, Dale Streeter of the Adirondack Playboys on bass guitar and vocals, and Alex Hammond on percussion, vocals and electric guitar.

Big Papa and the Escape Key Band will perform island music Friday, June 30 at the end of Main Street.

Tropical rock in flip flops, Big Papa & the Escape Key Band is not your typical hum-and-strum, one-man-band. Danceable beach covers bring to mind the pirate days of Old Town Key West.

Audience interaction is encouraged. His debut album “Big Escape” includes “I’ve Heard This Song Before,” “Down Island Baggage Claim” and “Help Me Forget.”

Audience members are encouraged to bring their hula skirts for a hula contest.

Fritz’s Polka Band will perform Friday, July 7, in the newly constructed pavilion at Island View Park overlooking the St. Lawrence River.

Playing everything from modern-style polka to country to rock and even blues, FPB performs an eclectic mix of musical styles. FPB was the first polka band to perform at a Woodstock Festival (Woodstock '99)!

On October 7, 2010, FPB was inducted into the Syracuse Area Music Hall of Fame. The band has made 18 recordings.

FPB has performed at B.B. King's Club (2003), The China Club (2006), and The Metropolitan Club (2007).

FPB even appears on "The Manchurian Candidate" DVD, released by Paramount Pictures in 2004!

In 2011, FPB had two different songs appear in episodes of the hit cable TV show, 'Breaking Bad', which airs on AMC.

David Wells & The Gathering will perform in the Island View Park Pavilion Friday, July 14.

Well’s music career budded in upstate New York playing in local bands. David became an experienced writer after graduating from the Crane School of Music. He recorded two solo records.

His third recording includes his current band members.

Amber Nezezon, fiddler and singer, studied classical violin initially under Victoria Day in Gouverneur and later under Dr. John Lindsey at Crane.

Greg Jadlos, bass guitarist, a Crane graduate, taught string instruments and orchestra for several years. He is also a seasoned pit orchestra musician, who played for numerous local high school musicals as well as Music Theatre North and the Community Performance Series.

Michael Jadlos, drummer, has been playing professionally since the age of 15. He recorded a single with Rod Richmond which placed for several weeks on the Nashville Music Row charts.

Jazz and Friends will perform from jazz from all eras, from Duke Ellington and Cole Porter to Miles Davis and Thelonius Monk Friday, July 28 at the Island View Park Pavilion.

The group is comprised of professional, semi-professional, amateur and student musicians who perform concerts in the northern New York region.

Six Foot Midget is playing in the Island View Park Pavilion in conjunction with the Homecoming Main Street Block Party Friday, Aug. 4. The show will start at 6:30 and continue until 10:30.

This group is known for playing the “guilty pleasure” songs from the 80’s and the standards that keep the crowd dancing all night long.

The current line-up includes founding members Ben Todd (vocals, guitar) and Scott Colby (drums, vocals) along with current additions Matt Gayle (Bass and Vocals) and Bill “Tracer” Tracy (lead guitar and vocals).

SFM has been a fixture on the local pub scene and is very busy playing weddings, parties and festivals.

Double Axel will perform Friday, Aug. 11, in the Island View Park Pavilion.

Since 1971, Frankie Johns, Rob Zollner and Alex Vangellow have played music all over Northern New York.

This special concert will showcase stories and highlight influences of their 46 years together.

MaryAnn Casale and Tas Cru will play in the Island View Park Pavilion Friday, Aug. 18.

Mary Ann started playing music at a young age with a strong jazz and blues influence learned from her uncle who taught her how to play guitar.

In early February her album “Restless Heart” was nominated for a SAMMY (Syracuse Area Music Awards) for best Americana Album of 2016.

From sultry blues, to folk and Americana, always soulful, this eclectic performer always delivers a true, honest, performance.

Raucous, rowdy, gentle, sweet, eccentric, quirky, and outright irreverent are all words that fittingly describe Tas Cru's songs and testify to his reputation as one of the most unique bluesmen plying his trade today. Tas Cru's discography includes seven albums of original songs.

Honors and recognition include Cru being awarded the 2014 Blues Foundation's Keeping the Blues Alive Award (KBA) for Blues Education and in 2009 named by Blues Festival Guide Magazine as its 2009 Blues Artist on the Rise.

His latest album, “Simmered & Stewed” was named 2016 Best Blues Album by the Syracuse Area Music Awards (SAMMYS).

The concluding show of the series Friday, Aug. 25, will feature the band Northbound.

This group, who will perform in the Island View Park Pavilion, is comprised of locals Andy VanDyne on electric guitar, keyboard and vocals, Michael Welch on acoustic guitar and vocals, Don Cannamela on bass and vocals, Larry Baycura on drums, Tim Savage on tenor sax
