CANTON -- St. Lawrence University senior linebacker Skyler Williamson was named the Liberty League's Defensive Player of the Week on Sept. 5, after leading Saints' defensive efforts against Utica College in the team's season opener recently.
Williamson led the Saints with 13 tackles, including 12 solo stops. Four of his tackles came behind the line of scrimmage for a total loss of six yards, and he also broke up two passes.
A 2016 Second-Team All-Liberty League selection, Williamson also won the honor twice last season.
The Saints' defense held Utica's quarterback to just 54 passing yards on nine completions.
St. Lawrence will face Norwich for the Hoffman Cup on Saturday in Norwich, Vt.
