The St. Lawrence County Office for the Aging is sponsoring the fourth annual Holiday Gift Drive to benefit seniors enrolled in the department’s home delivered meal program.
From now until Dec. 1 the office will be collecting donations of new gift and household items. Unopened donations of: blankets, slippers, puzzles, books, CDs, DVDs, boxed candy, knitted pieces, kitchen items, holiday themed gifts, lotions, gloves, scarves, and other similar gift type items will be accepted. Financial contributions to purchase items will also be accepted.
Last year 80 gift baskets were given away to older adults in need.
The holidays can be a very lonely time for seniors in the county, the Office for the Aging says, and they hope people will choose to help the department spread a little holiday cheer to older residents.
Donations can be dropped off at any of the nutrition sites (Brasher Falls, DeKalb, Gouverneur, Morristown, Ogdensburg, Potsdam, Star Lake) or at the OFA office, 80 State Highway 310, Suite 7, in Canton.
