OGDENSBURG -- The next meeting of the St. Lawrence County Environmental Management Council will take place in Ogdensburg, at 6 p.m. Wednesday, July 16 at the Dobisky Visitor’s Center, 100 Riverside Ave.
The speaker at the July EMC meeting will be noted angler and WPBS star Don Meissner, who serves as coordinator of FISHCAP, a program of the St. Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce. Meissner will present FISHCAP’s goals and objectives for improving water quality in order to improve St. Lawrence County fisheries.
Before the meeting, Donald O’Shea, a long-time member of the EMC who lives in Ogdensburg and who is a master gardener, will lead a Walk along the Maple Trail to observe varieties of invasive plants. The walk starts at 3:30 p.m. at the foot of Lake Street, on the west side of the Oswegatchie River, just north of the Spring Street bridge.
