There is a slight chance of continuing snow showers in St. Lawrence County this afternoon, and an increasing chance this evening and into tomorrow morning, according to the National Weather Service forecast for the North Country.
Forecasters expect no more than an inch of additional snowfall through the period, with the exception of high elevation lake effect snow areas in the south of the county, which could see a couple more inches of snow this afternoon.
Beyond that, there is no serious threat of snow or ice precipitation in the forecast through the weekend.
It will be a bit warmer than it has been, with high temperatures today expected in the low 30s, overnight lows in the mid 20s, and highs on Friday and Saturday near 40.
The NWS forecast for the St. Lawrence Valley and northwestern Adirondacks:
• Today: A 20 percent chance of light snow before 1pm. Cloudy, with a high near 32. Southwest wind 6 to 8 mph.
• Tonight: A 50 percent chance of snow showers, mainly after 11pm. Cloudy, with a low around 27. Southwest wind 10 to 14 mph. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.
• Friday: A 30 percent chance of snow showers, mainly before 8am. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 39. Southwest wind 11 to 18 mph. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.
• Friday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 27. Southwest wind around 6 mph becoming calm after midnight.
• Saturday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 41. Calm wind.
• Saturday Night: A chance of snow showers after 7pm, mixing with rain after midnight. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 28. West wind 6 to 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
• Sunday: Mostly cloudy, with a high near 35. West wind 9 to 11 mph.
• Sunday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 10. Northwest wind 5 to 9 mph.
• Monday: Partly sunny, with a high near 22. Northeast wind around 5 mph.
• Monday Night: A 50 percent chance of snow showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 15. East wind 6 to 9 mph.
• Tuesday: Snow showers likely. Cloudy, with a high near 30. East wind around 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%.
• Tuesday Night: A 50 percent chance of snow showers. Cloudy, with a low around 17. Northeast wind 5 to 7 mph.
• Wednesday: A 40 percent chance of snow showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 26. North wind around 7 mph.
