St. Lawrence University's Trevor Saunders '12 has been named a Pre-Season North Second Team All-America selection.
Saunders, who will serve as a captain for the Saints' 2011 team this fall, was a First Team All-Conference choice in 2010. He was second on the roster with 86 tackles and led the Saints with 12 pass break-ups in the secondary. For his efforts in 2010, Saunders earned a spot on D3football.com's All-East Region team for the first time in his career.
"Trevor was a solid playmaker and an outstanding leader for our defense last fall," said St. Lawrence head coach Mark Raymond. "He is most deserving on this honor and we expect him to play up to his high standards."
Saunders' selection as a Pre-Season All-America makes him an eligible nominee to play in the Division III Senior Classic on the weekend of December 10, 2011 in Salem, Virginia. A total of 80 players will be selected to participate in the game, which is sponsored by the Collegiate Development Football League. For more information, visit www.d3seniorclassic.com.
