St. Lawrence University senior Steve Kiplagat made his 2011 cross country season debut in style on Wednesday, as the 2010 All-American won the North Country Five Meet in Canton, NY.
The North Country Five Meet is an annual men's and women's individual race between St. Lawrence, SUNY Canton, Clarkson University, Potsdam State and Paul Smith's College.
Kiplagat won the event with a time of 16:54, 11 seconds ahead of rookie teammate Trevor Bibb. Sophomore Spencer Fausel and senior Sean Callahan finished third and fourth respectively, while sophomore Jon Eng (7th) and senior Andrew Sargrad (10th) each landed top-10 finishes.
Senior Andrew Goodwin finished 11th overall in 17:48, while sophomore Corey Hahnl earned his best collegiate finish in 12th place. Several other student-athletes represented St. Lawrence on Wednesday as well, and their finishes will be included as they become available.
The Saints will be in action again on Saturday, September 17 at the 2011 Saratoga Invitational.
