HANNAWA FALLS — Witches descended once again on Hannawa Pond in kayaks, paddleboards or paddleboats, one week before Halloween.
The pond was dotted with twenty non-motorized watercraft, powered by paddles or possibly witchcraft on Saturday, October 24.
The “witches on the water” event has become an annual tradition in Hannawa Falls.
“The very first year there were only about three people ,and it’s grown over the years," said Debra Dow, one of the witch paddlers.
“We started about five years ago. Cheryl Ellis put a notice on Facebook inviting ‘witches,” she said.
“What a great day. Thank you Mother Nature for calm waters. It’s a good time,” said Dow.
