To the Editor:
In colonial times, embattled American farmers met at Concord Bridge, Mass., to confront British soldiers who had marched from Boston in the dark of night in order to seize the farmers’ firearms.
At Concord Bridge, the combatants fired the “Shot Heard ‘Round the World.” Patriots around St. Lawrence County will fire a symbolic shot at noon Jan. 11 to protest the first anniversary of the passing of the New York SAFE Act. Trap shooting will follow for all who would like to participate.
The protest is organized by the Northern New York Freedom Fighter at the Black Lake Fish and Game Club, located at the intersection of St. Rt. 58 and Potato St., Morristown.
Patriots throughout the state will also shoot a symbolic shot in a legal and safe manner. Yates County SCOPE and the Barrington Rifle Club will host “Shot Heard ‘Round New York” events in Yates County.
Yates County SCOPE will host events at the Izaak Walton League, 2407 Guyanoga Rd, Penn Yan and at the Middlesex Conservation Club, 6087 South Hill Rd, Middlesex.
Shooters are asked to arrive prior to noon. The public is invited to participate at all three sites.
In passing the SAFE Act, Gov. Cuomo used a “Message of Necessity,” which suspended the legislature’s three-day debate rules and allowed the SAFE Act to be passed in the dark of night with no public comment. Criminals do not obey the law; hence, the SAFE Act is a direct attack on legal New Yorkers’ civil rights. It must be repealed.
Jan. 11 make a statement in support of freedom and oppose the SAFE Act with your “Shot Heard ‘Round New York!”
