Saints women's squash team fall in matches against top five teams

St. Lawrence University's women's squash team went 0-2 in matches against a pair of teams ranked in the top five nationally, losing 8-1 at Trinity on Saturday and 9-0 at Yale on Sunday.

The Saints, ranked 20th nationally, fell to 2-3 on the season going into matches at Cornell and at home against Tufts next weekend.

Second ranked Trinity won matches one through eight by 3-0 scores on Saturday with sophomore Paige Buchanan earning the Saint point with a 3-1 win over Phoebe Carlisle, 6-11, 11-2, 11-4, 12-10. Sarah Nielson also won for the Saints, beating Brice Rothenberg 3-11, 11-6, 7-11, 11-4, 11-8 in the exhibition match at ten.

Trinity's Raneen Sharif beat Jill Baker 11-5, 11-3, 11-5 at one, Julia LeCoq bat Emily Terry 12-10, 11-5, 11-0 at two, Ashley Tidman was a 11-8, 11-2, 11-4 winner over Brigett Tousignant at three and Salma El DeFrawy beat Zoe Kagan 11-3, 11-1, 11-3 at four. Natalie Babjukova beat Cristina de la Vega 11-1, 11-3, 11-1 at five, Karolina Holinkova was a 11, 2, 11-0, 11-0 winner over Val Quan at six, Chanel Erasmus beat Allie Brazzo 11-1, 11-0, 11-1 at seven and Alexia Echeverria beat Losangela Batista 11-2, 11-2, 11-2 at eight.

In Sunday's match at fourth-ranked Yale, Terry was the only Saint to win a game, taking game one in her match with Issey Norman Ross 11-9 before Norman Ross rallied to win 11-0, 11-4, 11-5 at two.

Shihu Mao beat Baker 11-1, 14-12, 11-7 at one, Jennifer Davis beat Tousiganant 11-5, 11-5, 11-8 at three, Shiyuan Mao beat Kagan 11-3, 11-4, 11-6 at four and Anne Harrison beat de la Vega 11-1, 11-1, 11-0 at five.

Annie Ballaine was a 11-0, 11-5, 11-3 winner over Quan at six while Jocelyn Lehamn beat Brazo 11-0, 11-0, 11-1 at seven, Georgia Blatchford was a 11-0, 11-2, 11-5 winner over Batista at eight, Melanie Tomlinson beat Buchanan 11-2, 11-1, 11-1 at nine and Amanda Roberts beat Nielson 11-6, 11-5, 11-4 at ten.
